Milo the Fox

A picture book series by Al Blank

Milo the Fox

Seven little stories about money, one coin at a time. Milo learns to earn, save, spend, share and wait, and your little one learns right along with him.

The Books

Short, gentle stories for ages 3 to 7. The money lessons are tucked inside the story, never preached, and every book ends with talk-about-it questions for grown-ups.

Meet the Characters

The same friends appear in every book, so kids get to know them as the series goes on.

Milo

A small fox with a big red tail and even bigger wishes. Milo learns by doing, and sometimes by getting it wrong first.

Grandpa Badger

Wise, patient and always ready with a question that helps Milo figure things out for himself.

Pip

Milo's best friend. A kind little rabbit who's always up for a picnic, a pond or a trade.

Duck

Lives in a little house by the pond, loves to bang a drum, and is a good neighbor to everyone.

For Parents & Teachers

Each book carries one small idea. Read them in order, or pick the one that fits the moment.

  • Book 1, Earning & saving: Helping can earn money, and saving up takes patience.
  • Book 2, Costs & profit: Making something to sell costs a little first. Profit is what's left over.
  • Book 3, Choosing wisely: Shiny isn't the same as strong. Look closely, ask questions, and wait a night.
  • Book 4, Spend, save, share: Give every coin a job: some for now, some for later, some for others.
  • Book 5, Budgeting: A budget means choosing. A good deal makes coins stretch further.
  • Book 6, Trading: A good trade is one where both sides get something they want.
  • Book 7, Patience & interest: Money left to grow while you wait comes back as more. That's interest.
Tip: Read the story once just for fun. On the second read, pause at the questions in the back of the book. Pair it with the free jar kit and let your child drop in a real coin every time Milo does.
